6 Dead and 10 Missing after Boat Capsizes in Srinagar
At least 6 people lost their lives while ten others remain missing after a boat capsized in the Jhelum River in Srinagar on Tuesday. The ill-fated boat was carrying over 20 passengers, predominantly children, at the time of the accident. Despite the efforts of rescue teams, including the state disaster relief force, only ten passengers have been successfully rescued. Responding to the emergency, the state disaster relief force has initiated a thorough rescue operation to locate and assist those missing.
The incident occurred when the boat overturned due to the sudden snapping of the rope utilized to assist its crossing, according to the officials. Amidst the ongoing rescue efforts, locals revealed that numerous school children were among the passengers aboard the ill-fated boat. The incident occurred amidst swift river currents resulting from incessant rainfall over the past couple of days.

Authorities from the Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police issued a warning, urging people to refrain from travel as NH-44 was obstructed at Kishtwari Pather.
