Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday issued a stern warning to the perpetrators of the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of 26 people, stating that India will leave no stone unturned in bringing terrorists and their backers to book. Speaking from Bihar the Prime Minister reaffirmed the nation's unwavering resolve.

“Today, on the soil of Bihar, I say to the whole world, India will identify, trace and punish every terrorist and their backers,” said Modi. “We will pursue them to the ends of the Earth. India's spirit will never be broken by terrorism. Terrorism will not go unpunished. Every effort will be made to make sure that justice is done. The entire nation is one in this resolve. Everyone who believes in humanity is with us. I thank the people of various countries and their leaders who have stood with us,” he added.

The Prime Minister described the attack, which saw unarmed civilians mercilessly gunned down, as a “horrific and cowardly act” that has “deeply pained the entire nation.” “Across the country, people are mourning. In this moment of sorrow, the whole nation stands in solidarity with the families of the victims,” the Prime Minister asserted.

Narendra Modi confirmed that the government is taking all necessary measures to ensure the swift recovery of those injured in the attack. “In this attack, some lost their sons, others their brothers, and some their life partners. Among them were people who spoke Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Gujarati, and Bihari. Their languages may have been different, but their loss is shared by every Indian—from Kargil to Kanyakumari,” said PM Modi.

Condemning the incident as more than just an act of violence, the Prime Minister declared it an affront to the nation's identity and unity. “This was not just an attack on innocent civilians—it was an attack on the very soul of India. And I say this in the clearest words possible: those responsible for this act—the terrorists and the masterminds behind them—will face consequences beyond their imagination. They will be punished, no matter the cost. The united will of 140 crore Indians will break the back of these terrorist forces,” said the PM Narendra Modi.

In response to the terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 people, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) on Wednesday. The over two-hour-long meeting was attended by key figures including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.

In a strong diplomatic retaliation following the Pahalgam terror attack India has announced a series of sweeping measures targeting Pakistan. These include the immediate closure of the Attari-Wagah border, suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, and the revocation of travel privileges for Pakistani nationals under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme. Those who crossed into India with valid documentation have been asked to return by 1 May, and Pakistani nationals currently in India under the SAARC scheme must leave within 48 hours.
