Indian security forces have eliminated three Pakistani terrorists in an ongoing counter-insurgency operation in the Chhatru region of Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district, the Army reported on Saturday.

The operation, which began on Wednesday following a brief exchange of fire, has continued despite harsh weather conditions and difficult terrain. One terrorist was gunned down on Friday morning after contact was established with the militants. Two more were neutralised the following day.

“In the ongoing operations at Chhatru, Kishtwar, despite bad and inclement weather, two more Pakistani terrorists have been eliminated. A large quantity of war-like stores including one AK and one M4 rifle have been recovered,” said the Army’s Jammu-based White Knight Corps in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter). The security forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the site, including an AK-series rifle and an M4 carbine.

According to reports, the deceased militants were linked to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) group. Among them was a senior commander, identified as Saifullah, who is believed to have been active in the Chenab Valley area for the past year.

Meanwhile, a separate search operation remains underway in the Basantgarh and Ramnagar regions of Udhampur district. Security personnel are currently attempting to trace a group of three terrorists believed to be hiding in the area since Wednesday.
