Pakistan PM Admits Indian Strike on Military Base

In a stunning revelation, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday confirmed that Indian forces conducted precision missile strikes on Pakistani military sites, including the Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, during ‘Operation Sindoor’. The admission came during a speech at the Pakistan Monument, where Sharif recounted a late-night call from Army Chief General Asim Munir.

“At 2:30 am on May 10, General Munir informed me via secure line that Indian ballistic missiles had struck Nur Khan Airbase and other locations,” Sharif said, praising the military’s response. “Our Air Force, using indigenous technology and advanced systems on Chinese jets, defended the nation with unwavering resolve.” The statement, a rare acknowledgment of Indian military action, contradicts Pakistan’s usual stance of denial. A video clip of Sharif’s speech has gone viral on social media platforms, amassing millions of views and sparking heated discussions. Posts on X highlighted the significance, with users noting, “Pakistan’s PM admitting India’s strike is a game-changer,” and sharing the clip widely.

The strikes, launched on May 7, were India’s response to a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, which killed 26 people. India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ targeted at least nine terror camps deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Pakistan, soon after that had retaliated with ceasefire violations across Line of Control, killing civilians. Pakistan in retaliatory attack had attempted to target Indian military bases but were neutralised by Indian Armed Forces. Eventually India had attacked Pakistan’s military infrastructure, reportedly damaging 11 Pakistani airbases. Pakistan retaliated with drone and missile attacks, but a US-brokered ceasefire halted hostilities on May 10.

Sharif’s admission has fuelled debates both inside and outside Pakistan, especially after Pakistani military had persistently denied any damages to their military infrastructure during ‘Operation Sindoor’, even though Indian Armed Forces had released video proof of their targets in Pakistan maintaining that ‘Operation Sindoor’ was launched to target terror camps and with no motive to harm civilians on the other side of the border.
