Pahalgam Attack Fallout: Cyber Offensives amist Rising Indo-Pak Tensions, Military on Alert

Tensions between India and Pakistan have sharply escalated following the 22 April terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 tourists, with India vowing a strong response and Pakistan adopting an increasingly aggressive stance. Intelligence sources report that Pakistan, along with Indonesia, Morocco, Bangladesh, and one other nation, has launched a coordinated cyber offensive against India. The Maharashtra Cyber Cell, in its report titled "Echoes of Pahalgam", revealed that nearly one million cyberattacks have targeted Indian infrastructure in the past six days.

“This is not just cyber vandalism—it’s cyber warfare,” an official said on condition of anonymity, highlighting the scale and coordination of the attacks.

Amid growing fears of a wider conflict, Pakistan has reportedly advised its citizens to stockpile essential food supplies and has commenced military drills along the border. These developments signal heightened alertness and preparations on both sides.

In New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has held a series of high-level meetings with military chiefs, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Sources indicate that India is preparing a comprehensive strategic response. “A strong retaliatory move cannot be ruled out,” a senior government official stated.

India has already announced five key policy measures aimed at Pakistan, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty—a landmark agreement that had survived multiple conflicts between the two nations. In response, Pakistan has imposed a complete ban on trade with India.
