In a swift and calculated military response, India launched a massive precision strike early on May 7, hitting nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation, dubbed Operation Sindoor, was a joint offensive executed by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force between 1:05 AM and 1:30 AM.

At a press briefing in New Delhi, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, joined by Colonel Sophia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, described the assault as a “measured and proportionate” retaliation to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 civilians. The attack was reportedly carried out by Pakistan-based terror outfits.

“For over 30 years, Pakistan has nurtured terror infrastructure recruitment hubs, training camps, and launch pads across PoJK and its own territory,” said Colonel Qureshi. “This mission was designed to dismantle those very structures and halt the cycle of violence.”

Foreign Secretary Misri emphasized the intelligence-backed urgency of the operation: “There were credible indications of fresh attacks being planned. India acted decisively measured, non-escalatory, yet firm to neutralise those threats.”

The coordinated missile barrage targeted suspected terror strongholds in Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Bahawalpur, Rawalakot, Chakswari, Bhimber, Neelum Valley, Jhelum, and Chakwal. Five of these were in PoK; the rest were deep inside Pakistani territory. Intelligence had long flagged these areas as key operational bases for Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), groups behind several past attacks on Indian soil.

Each target was carefully selected to avoid Pakistani military assets. UAV reconnaissance and satellite surveillance ensured precision targeting. According to government sources, all designated sites—including training camps, command centres, arms depots, and logistics hubs—were successfully destroyed.

The strikes were executed using a mix of air- and ground-launched munitions. Advanced weaponry, including satellite-guided glide bombs and laser-guided missiles, delivered pinpoint accuracy. Real-time drone surveillance confirmed impact and minimised the risk to civilian life.

Bahawalpur, a known JeM bastion, was among the most fortified of the targets. Infiltration points in Muzaffarabad and Bhimber often used to smuggle militants across the LoC were also hit with precision salvos.

Over 70 terrorists were killed, and at least 60 others injured. The operation, as per official sources, not only neutralised immediate threats but also sent a clear signal about India’s readiness to act pre-emptively against cross-border terrorism.
