The Worli Police have detained a 26-year-old man from Vadodara, Gujarat, for allegedly sending a death threat message to Bollywood actor Salman Khan via the traffic police’s WhatsApp number. The accused, identified as Mayank Pandya, is currently being interrogated by the police. A case has been registered under Sections 351(2) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to officials, the threatening message was sent around 6:30 am on April 13 and came to light the following day when traffic police personnel were reviewing messages. The message reportedly stated, “We will enter your house and kill you and plant a bomb in your car,” directly threatening the actor. Though the message did not explicitly mention the Bishnoi gang, its tone was similar to previous threats received by Khan.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Dattatray Kamble said, “After registering the case, we traced the mobile number used to Vadodara. A police team was immediately dispatched and the suspect was taken into custody for questioning. Further action will depend on the outcome of the interrogation.”

This is not the first time Salman Khan has received death threats. In 2023, he received two threatening emails, and his father Salim Khan was also targeted with a letter allegedly from the Bishnoi gang during a morning walk.

On April 14, 2024, five rounds were fired outside Khan’s Bandra residence by men allegedly associated with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Several suspects were arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch following the incident.

Despite heightened security, the threats have persisted. In July 2024, a man attempted to breach Khan’s convoy on a motorbike. In November the same year, a threat demanding ₹5 crore was sent to the traffic police's WhatsApp number, again warning of dire consequences if the demand wasn’t met. A suspect was arrested from Karnataka in that case. Given the continuous threats, Salman Khan has been provided Y+ category security.
