Amit Raj Thackeray Urges PM Modi to Avoid Premature Celebrations Amid India-Pakistan Tensions

Amit Raj Thackeray, president of the Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena and a leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), has penned an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging restraint in celebrating military operations while the conflict with Pakistan remains unresolved. He called for greater public awareness, sensitivity, and vigilance in light of recent terror attacks and border skirmishes.

In the letter, Thackeray cited the recent terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists. “The brutality of the attack remains fresh in the minds of the people. What the nation truly demands is strong and decisive action against those terrorists,” he said. He also referred to the loss of lives among Indian soldiers and civilians along the India-Pakistan border in recent days.

“In such circumstances, instead of celebrating military gains, the government should focus on creating awareness, fostering vigilance, and encouraging national sensitivity among citizens,” Thackeray wrote.

While acknowledging the recently announced ceasefire, Thackeray expressed skepticism about Pakistan’s intentions. “Given Pakistan’s past record of betrayals during such situations, it is difficult to place complete trust in them. History has shown us that Pakistan has used similar opportunities to deceive,” he warned.

Thackeray urged the government to guide citizens on how to respond sensibly in such tense scenarios and to mentally prepare the public for possible outcomes. “This should be a key component of national policy,” he added.

Addressing PM Modi directly, Thackeray wrote, “The nation continues to believe in your sensitivity and gratitude toward the sacrifices of our armed forces. That is why I sincerely request that we avoid premature celebrations until the outcome is clear. The real tribute to our martyrs would be to exercise restraint and honour their sacrifice with dignity.”

He concluded the letter by reaffirming faith in the Prime Minister’s leadership, stating, “We trust in your ability to make the right decision and hope our sentiments are acknowledged.”
