Families of the two Bengal residents—Bitan Adhikary and Samir Guha—who were killed in the dastardly Pahalgam terror attack, have lauded India’s retaliatory action, Operation Sindoor, describing it as a "step towards justice." Expressing gratitude for the government's response, the grieving families said the precision strike brought a measure of solace amid their irreparable loss.

One of the victims, Samir Guha, 52, was a central government employee working under the Ministry of Statistics. Guha had been on a family vacation in Kashmir with his wife and daughter when terrorists gunned him down at Pahalgam. His wife expressed gratitude for the government’s firm response. “I am happy that our country has hit deep into the heart of the terror camps. We would request that this attack must continue till terrorism is wiped out from our neighbourhood,” she said.

Though still mourning, Guha’s wife said the government’s action under Operation Sindoor had brought a sense of relief and hope to families like theirs, who have lost everything to terror. “We thank the central government for this tough response. Justice has been delivered. This will send a clear message that such attacks will not go unanswered,” said Sameer Guha's brother-in-law.

The family of Bitan Adhikary too thanked the government, his wife Sohini Adhikary said that she believed her husband would have been proud of the government’s decisive action. “We wanted justice, and the government has acted. We have complete faith in their decision. They’ve named the operation ‘Sindoor’—my sindoor is gone, but I believe my husband is watching from above,” she said.

Bitan Adhikary, 40, was a software engineer had returned from the United States and was on an eight-day holiday in Kashmir with his wife and their three-year-old son. The family had arrived in the Valley on 16 April and was scheduled to return home on 24 April. Tragically, Bitan was shot down in front of his wife and young son during the attack.

Conducted in the early hours of Wednesday, Operation Sindoor, a joint offensive by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force eliminated terrorists across nine camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), striking key terror hubs in Bahawalpur and Muridke.
