Uttar Pradesh Teens Found Hanging: Postmortem Confirms Asphyxiation, Families Allege Foul Play

The postmortem report of two teenage girls found hanging from a tree in Uttar Pradesh's Farrukhabad district, has confirmed they died from asphyxiation. The police have labeled the case as a double suicide, noting that no injuries were found on the girls' bodies. However, the families of the victims—aged 15 and 18 and from the Scheduled Caste—are accusing foul play.

The deceased, who were close friends, were discovered hanging from the same dupatta tied to a tree in a mango orchard. According to Superintendent of Police Alok Priyadarshi, the dupattas were tied around each girl's neck and then looped over the tree.

The girls had attended a Janmashtami celebration with their families on Monday night, just a short distance from where their bodies were later found. A mobile phone and a SIM card were recovered from the scene, with a SIM card found in one of the girls' clothing. The cousin of one of the victims, who was with them at the festival, had his phone found near the site.

The families of the victims are convinced their daughters were murdered. The father of one girl expressed his disbelief, stating that when his daughter did not return from the festival, he assumed she stayed with relatives. He was shocked to learn of their deaths and suspects murder rather than suicide.

The police have initiated a thorough investigation, including analyzing the recovered mobile phone and SIM card to uncover more details. The authorities are carefully reviewing all evidence and claims from the victims' families.
