The Election Commission of India on Wednesday issued show cause notices to Congress leader Supriya Shrinate for her comments on Kangana Ranaut, BJP's candidate for Mandi Lok Sabha and BJP leader Dilip for his jibe directed towards West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The Election Commission labeled these remarks as 'undignified and in bad taste' and potentially violative of the Model Code of Conduct.

BJP’s incumbent Medinipur MP Dilip Ghosh, who is contesting from contesting from the Bardhaman-Durgapur Lok Sabha seat, questioned who West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s father is. "When Didi goes to Goa she becomes Goa's daughter, in Tripura she says I am Tripura's daughter, decide who is your father; this is not right,” said Ghosh.

Trinamool Congress on Tuesday lodged a formal complaint, urging action against BJP MP Dilip Ghosh for alleged violations of the model code of conduct. The complaint, addressed to the chief electoral officer accused Ghosh of making derogatory remarks against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. According to the TMC, Ghosh's comments not only lacked decorum but also displayed a blatant disregard for the dignity of a prominent political figure. BJP later demanded an explanation from Ghosh, who then expressed regret if his words were deemed inappropriate.

Supriya Shrinate faced backlash after a post about Kangana Ranaut appeared on her Instagram account. She later clarified in a video statement that the post was made without her knowledge and blamed a parody account bearing her name for it. Despite her explanation, the National Commission for Women urged the Election Commission to take action against her. Kangana Ranaut, in response to the incident, emphasized the importance of respecting women's dignity and condemned the use of derogatory language.
