Ajay Pratap Singh, a BJP Rajya Sabha MP from Madhya Pradesh on Saturday announced his resignation from the party's primary membership. Despite not explicitly stating the reason in his resignation letter addressed to BJP chief J P Nadda, Singh had earlier expressed discontent over not being nominated for re-election. He had hoped to contest from the Sidhi Lok Sabha seat, which the BJP allocated to Rajesh Mishra instead.

Taking to the social media platform “X”, Singh shared his resignation letter addressed to BJP President J. P. Nadda and State President V. D. Sharma. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the party's candidate selection process ahead of the all-important 2024 Lok Sabha elections. After submitting his resignation, Ajay Pratap Singh shared his discontentment with the BJP's approach to selecting candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. As per reports, he wished to contest from the Sidhi Lok Sabha seat, however, BJP nominated Rajesh Mishra instead. "There is a difference in what the BJP says and what it does," said Singh.
