“The reason for the breach is unemployment”: Rahul Gandhi on the Parliament scare

Rahul Gandhi on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Union government, linking the massive Parliament security breach with the alleged rising unemployment in the country. From the stage of the protest demonstration at Jantar Mantar, Rahul Gandhi stated that the Union government is concerned about the mimicry video, but has failed to take accountability for the security scare.

“A few days ago, 2-3 youths jumped inside the Parliament House, we all saw, they came inside and spread some smoke. All the BJP MPs ran away. They call themselves nationalists but we saw how afraid they were,” said Rahul Gandhi. He further questioned the lax security measures that were deployed to protect aa high-security zone, such as the Indian Parliament. “First of all, how did those people come inside, they brought gas cylinders inside the Parliament. If they could bring that then they could have brought anything. The second question is why did they protest? The reason for this was unemployment. There is huge unemployment in the country. The youth of this country cannot get employment today," he added, linking the security breach with the alleged problem of unemployment.

The Wayanad MP also questioned the role played by the media, who according to him have failed to highlight the key issues such as unemployment, or the mass suspension of the Opposition MPs from the Parliament. He further sharpened his attack by saying that the Union government has washed its hand off the real pressing issues, instead, the “only thing they say is Rahul Gandhi took a video of the mimicry.”

Nationwide protests have erupted on Friday opposition parties within the INDIA bloc have hit the streets to express their discontentment over the suspension of 146 Members of Parliament during the Winter Session. In New Delhi, INDIA Alliance leaders have congregated at Jantar Mantar under the theme “Save Democracy” as an effort to "safeguard democracy." Around two dozen opposition MPs, including Jairam Ramesh, A Raja, Gaurav Gogoi, Sharad Pawar, Mukul Wasnik, A Raja, and Naseer Hussain, have participated in the protests.
