“The reason behind the breach is unemployment and inflation”: Rahul Gandhi on Parliament scare

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and alleged that the recent security breach in Parliament was a consequence of increasing unemployment and inflation, which he attributed to “Modiji’s policies”. The Wayanad MP asserted that unemployment stands as the “biggest issue” in India.

"Why did it happen? The biggest issue in this country is unemployment, which is boiling over in the entire country. India's youth is not getting jobs because of Modiji’s policies. There has definitely been a security lapse, but the reason behind it is unemployment and inflation," Rahul Gandhi told reporters after a party meeting on Saturday.

In a separate post on social media platform the senior Congress leader further sharpened his attack and claimed that the government has to focus on the issue and employ the youth. “Where are the jobs? The youths are desperate. We have to focus on this issue and give jobs to the youth. There has been a security lapse, but the reason behind it is the country’s biggest issue - unemployment,” posted Gandhi.

The Bharatiya Janata Party was quick to rebut Rahul Gandhi’s attacks. “Rahul Gandhi never disappoints; always talks trash. For the record, unemployment in India is at 3.2%, the lowest in six years. Instead, Rahul Gandhi and I.N.D.I Alliance leaders must explain the close linkages of those involved in the Parliament breach with Congress, TMC, and CPI(M). Rahul Gandhi, in particular, must clarify his association with Asim Sarode, who was part of Bharat Jodo Yatra and has offered to provide legal aid to the intruders,” BJP IT in charge Amit Malviya took a dig at Rahul Gandhi and posted on ‘X’.

On Wednesday, December 13, which happened to the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attacks, a massive security breach rattled the Lok Sabha when two men, identified as Sagar and Manoranjan, barged into the chamber from the public gallery and released yellow smoke. They were pinned down by the MPs after which they were handed over to security. At the same time, two others, Neelam and Amol, deployed colored smoke bombs outside the Parliament. As per reports, the intruders wanted to draw the attention of the MPs and the government towards issues such as unemployment, inflation and Manipur violence. The family members of Neelam Singh and Amol Shinde have stated that these individuals were experiencing distress because they were unable to secure a job even after repeated attempts.

All four suspects were arrested and put in seven-day police custody by the Delhi Police Special Cell on Thursday. Lalit Jha, considered the "mastermind," was arrested on Friday for circulating protest videos on social media. Another individual, Mahesh Kumawat, was detained and later arrested by Delhi Police on Saturday, confirmed to be part of the conspiracy to attack the Lok Sabha.
