Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao submits resignation to Governor

BRS Supremo and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao submitted his resignation to the state Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan on Sunday. The resignation came hours after BRS faced a crushing defeat against Congress in the state assembly election.  

Earlier, on Friday, the Chief Minister convened a meeting of the Council of Ministers on December 4. “The State Cabinet will meet under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Sri K. Chandrashekar Rao on 4th December at 2 PM in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat.”reads the notification issued by the Chief Minister’s office.

K Chandrasekhar Rao contested in the state assembly elections from the constituencies of Gajewal and Kamareddy. While he is leading in the Gajewal seat, he was defeated in Kamareddy by BJP’s Katipally Venkata Ramana.

Best known for spearheading the Telangana movement to achieve statehood for Telangana, K. Chandrasekhar Rao took oath as the first Chief Minister of Telangana in 2014 and was re-elected for a second term in 2018.
