Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee is expected to skip the summons of the Enforcement Directorate in connection to the school jobs scam on October 3; instead, he is likely to participate in the TMC protest program that is scheduled to take place in the national capital on the same date. In a post on X, without taking any names, Abhishek Banerjee has directly challenged the Enforcement Directorate to "stop" him if they can.

Taking to X, TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee said that he will not be attending the Enforcement Directorate's summons on October 3, but will be participating in his party's protest in Delhi instead. "The fight against the deprivation of West Bengal (WB) and its rightful dues shall persist regardless of the obstacles. No force on Earth can hinder my dedication to fight for the people of WB and their fundamental rights. I'll be in Delhi joining the protest on October 2nd & 3rd. STOP ME IF YOU CAN!" tweeted Banerjee.

Abhishek Banerjee was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday, taking to social media, the TMC took a swipe at the central agency for summoning him on a day that has also been chosen by Trinamool Congress to stage a protest agitation in Delhi for West Bengal’s rightful dues that have not been cleared by the Union Government. “Earlier this month, the ED summoned me on a day coinciding with an important coordinating meeting of INDIA in Delhi. I dutifully appeared and complied with the summons. Now, today yet again they have served me another summons to appear before them on a day when the protest agitation for West Bengal's rightful dues is scheduled in Delhi on 3rd Oct. This stark revelation unequivocally exposes those who are truly perturbED, rattlED and scarED!” said the Trinamool Congress MP.

The Trinamool Congress has planned to hold a protest in Delhi on October 3 over the non-release of dues to Bengal under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). The party has viewed the ED summons issued to Abhishek Banerjee, who is the nephew of Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, as an attempt by the BJP to disrupt the planned rally. On October 2, party MPs, MLAs, and leaders led by Abhishek Banerjee will pay their respects to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat in the national capital on his birth anniversary. A delegation from the TMC is set to meet Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Giriraj Singh on October 3 to place the issue of non-release of dues under MGNREGA before him.

Previously, Banerjee was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate on September 13, a day that happened to coincide with the first meeting of the coordination committee of the Opposition Alliance INDIA in Delhi.
