Saffron is a colour of respect, BJP is using saffron to terrorise people & fan hatred, claims Mamata Banerjee

“Hatred constructs BJP’s dictionary”, Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee slammed the saffron party and claimed that BJP is trying to use the saffron colour to terrorise people. This comes in the wake of the recent clashes in Haryana where several allegations have been levelled against Bajrang Dal and VHP members for fanning of tension. “ These days people are made to wear saffron dresses at petrol pumps. They are painting metro stations saffron. In the name of renovation and modernisation they are turning railway stations saffron. If the entire nation is painted saffron then where will the other colours go. Saffron is a pious colour, we respect it and use in religious occasions but if BJP wants to use saffron to terrorise people then people of India won’t appreciate that”, said Banerjee during a press conference on Thursday.

Confident of a victory for the opposition bloc INDIA, TMC supremo claimed that they are unitedly collecting evidences about alleged manipulations, previously indulged in by the ruling BJP. She reiterated that BJP is trying to use the politics of hatred as their strategy to win 2024 Lok Sabha elections. While responding to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s assertion that PM Modi will come back to power with majority in 2024, Mamata Banerjee stressed that NDA as an alliance never held any meeting and has lost its credibility. “India alliance will win in 2024, which means the alliance will win Delhi too. India alliance will save the country from disaster, unemployment & communal tension. India alliance is for the motherland, by the motherland and of the motherland”, she added.

The third opposition INDIA bloc meeting is expected to happen between August 31 and September 1, also known as the Mahrashtra chapter. In the last meeting in Bangalore, the name INDIA was derived - Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance. Like Banerjee, Shiv Sena UBT chief Uddhav Thakrey on Wednesday lashed out at BJP and accused them of the current unrest in Haryana and the ongoing turmoil in Manipur. “Is this the ram-Rajya of double engine”, Thakrey has asked on Wednesday.
