A day after the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee adopted the draft report proposing the expulsion of Mahua Moitra from the with a majority vote of 6-4 on Thursday, the TMC MP stated that she is ‘proud to go down in parliamentary history as 1st person to be unethically expelled.’ The Ethics Committee probe into the alleged ‘cash-for-query’ scam flagged by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey recommended the expulsion of Mahua Moitra, given the ‘seriousness’ of the charges leveled against her.

The Krishnanagar MP on Friday took to social media platform ‘X’, and stated that the working of the Ethics Committee is a ‘kangaroo court’ and a ‘monkey business from start to finish.’ “Proud to go down in parliamentary history as 1st person to be unethically expelled by Ethics Comm whose mandate doesn’t include expulsion. 1st expel & THEN ask govt to ask CBI to find evidence. Kangaroo court, monkey business from start to finish,” posted Mahua Moitra.

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has accused Mahua Moitra of accepting bribes from Dubai-based businessman Darshan Hiranandani. In a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Dubey claimed that Moitra shared her official login details with Hiranandani and received payments to raise questions about the Adani Group in Parliament, targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Moitra, who attended the Parliamentary committee inquiry into Dubey's allegations, left the meeting, expressing dissatisfaction with the line of questioning she faced. This prompted other MPs to leave in solidarity with her.

The Ethics Committee, investigating accusations of 'cash-for-query' against Mahua Moitra, approved a 500-page draft report recommending the expulsion of the TMC MP in a majority vote of 6-4 on Thursday. Stressing the gravity of the charges against Moitra, Vinod Sonkar, the Chairman of the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee, stated that the committee extensively reviewed the allegations, compiled a report, and convened on Thursday to discuss and endorse the findings.

The TMC Krishnanagar MP on Friday sharpened her attack on the Adani group, following her proposed expulsion order by the Ethics Committee. “Also Mr. Adani - don’t waste your time telling everyone “Mahua’s ticket will be cut”. The Only thing that will be cut is your market capitalization as your house of cards unravels. Like I said I will stand from Krishnanagar & double my margin.” said the TMC MP.
