Pervert Sanjoy Rai Visited Multiple Brothels, Hours Before He Raped and Killed The RG Kar Doctor

More shocking revelations continue to emerge 11 days after the brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old postgraduate student at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9. The main accused Sanjoy Rai had been a perpetual pervert and had even visited two red light areas in Kolkata on August 8, hours before he landed at RG Kar MCH and committed the heinous crime, claim police sources.

According to police officials handling the case, up until the matter was transferred to the CBI, as directed by the Calcutta High Court, the arrested accused Sanjoy had visited red light areas in the northern part of the city on Thursday, August 8, accompanied by a friend. An officer stated that Sanjoy had consumed local liquor throughout the day. He and his friend wandered from one brothel to another. However, while his friend could afford to pay for “the services,” Sanjoy was unable to do so due to a shortage of money. “We have reviewed CCTV footage from that neighborhood, and Sanjoy did indeed spend a substantial amount of time there, but during the examination, he admitted that he couldn’t pay for the services even after trying from one place to another,” claimed a senior officer from the Kolkata Police.
The main accused, Sanjoy Rai, who had previously tried his luck at a second brothel, later went to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. In between, he consumed more “liquor”, according to police reports. The second-year PGT medical student was violated, brutalised and mercilessly murdered by accused Sanjoy inside the seminar room of the MCH where the doctor was resting during her 36-hour shift. This barbaric crime has sent shockwaves throughout the country, sparking widespread protests and calls for severe punishment for the perpetrator.

Sanjoy, currently in CBI custody, has reportedly shown no remorse for his crime. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court while hearing a suo motu case has asked for a status report from the CBI by Thursday morning, when the case will be reviewed by a bench led by CJI DY Chandrachud. Sanjoy was arrested by the Kolkata Police within 12 hours of the FIR being registered on August 9. The chorus demanding capital punishment has intensified since the arrest, while there are apprehensions too, if he alone had perpetrated the crime or abetted by others. Kolkata Police from his mobile phone had recovered multiple porn videos and were mostly incestuous in nature. Reports indicate, he had had two marriages and in both, he had been an abusive husband.
