In a first in the country, Rajasthan Chief minister Ashok Gehlot has announced a tough stance against men and mostly history sheeters accused of harassing, molesting and raping women, barring them from all government jobs for life. Police have been tasked to maintain records of individuals and history sheeters who would be later categorised as ineligible for all kinds of government jobs. Such a ban would also cover men who are accused of crimes and whose matters could be sub-judice and pending. The move was directed as a crackdown on rising number of cases of violations against women in Rajasthan. Gehlot took to social media and wrote "The state government has decided that individuals involved in harassment, attempts of sexual misconduct, and accused of sexual offences, as well as history sheeters, will be barred from government jobs,"

The record of miscreants will also be kept in the police stations like history sheeters and this will be mentioned on their character certificate issued by the state government. CM Ghelot also added "A social boycott of such anti-social elements is necessary”. This comes at a time when the BJP had been targeting the Gehlot Government over crimes against women in the poll bound state.

Rajasthan has been dealing with a series of hate crimes against women, the latest involving the alleged gang-rape and murder of a 4-year-old girl in Bhilwara district on August 2, where seven individuals, including a woman, have been arrested.
