Hailing the Supreme Court verdict upholding the constitutional validity of the abrogation of Article 370, as historic, Prime Minister Narendra has called it a "resounding declaration of hope, progress, and unity" for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

Soon after the verdict the Prime Minister took to social media and wrote: “Today's Supreme Court verdict on the abrogation of Article 370 is historic and constitutionally upholds the decision taken by the Parliament of India on 5th August 2019; it is a resounding declaration of hope, progress and unity for our sisters and brothers in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. The Court, in its profound wisdom, has fortified the very essence of unity that we, as Indians, hold dear and cherish above all else.”

While pledging towards the dreams of the people of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh, he added that his commitment is unwavering in fulfilling those dreams. “I want to assure the resilient people of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh that our commitment to fulfilling your dreams remains unwavering. We are determined to ensure that the fruits of progress not only reach you but also extend their benefits to the most vulnerable and marginalised sections of our society who suffered due to Article 370”, he added.

He termed his vision for new Jammu and Kashmir as “Naya Jammu Kashmir” and welcomed the SC judgment as a beacon of hope. “The verdict today is not just a legal judgment; it is a beacon of hope, a promise of a brighter future, and a testament to our collective resolve to build a stronger, more united India. #NayaJammuKashmir” he wrote on ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter).

The constitution bench of the Supreme Court led by CJI DY Chandrachud on Monday pronounced the judgment on Monday over 23 petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir that had scrapped the special status of the state on August 5, 2019. SC upheld the abrogation of Article 370 and stressed that Jammu and Kashmir seized to have any special sovereignty distinguishable from other states and union territories of India after its merger with the Union of India through an Instrument of Accession on October 26, 1947.
