“Naxalites and terrorists get emboldened”, PM Modi accuses the Congress of empowering anti-social elements in poll-bound Chhattisgarh

‘Naxalites and terrorists get emboldened whenever the Congress comes to power”, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a rally on Tuesday in Bishrampur of poll-bound Chhattisgarh. The first phase of state assembly elections is underway in the state and will be closely followed by the second phase on November 17. The PM also alleged that under the Congress rule, drug abuse and human trafficking have increased manifold in the Surguja district of the state.

"Whenever the Congress comes to power in the country, terrorists and Naxalites get emboldened. News of bomb blasts and murders are reported from here and there. Wherever the Congress is in power, the rule of crime and loot prevails there," said Narendra Modi, claiming that the Congress has failed to curb the Naxal violence in Chhattisgarh.

Drawing inferences to the recent murder of a BJP worker Ratan Dubey, who was allegedly killed by Naxalites while campaigning for BJP in the Narayanpur district, PM Modi said, “In the recent period, our party workers were snatched from us. A few days ago, our colleague was shot dead...do you want to live under the shadow of bombs and guns? No matter how much money you have, if your son doesn't return home in the evening and his body reaches, what needs that money?”

"You can't imagine how much Congress tried to stop Droupadi Murmu from becoming the first Tribal President of India, but it was the BJP which ensured this honour to her," said PM Modi launching a scathing attack at the Congress for allegedly preventing a tribal President from leading the country.

The first phase of the state assembly elections was conducted in Chhattisgarh today. Several seats of the Maoist-dominated area of Bastar fall under the first phase of the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections. A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan sustained injuries in an explosion caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) allegedly set up by Maoist insurgents in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district. The second phase will be conducted on November 17, and the results will be declared on December 3.
