“They are breaking India, doing tukde tukde”, Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee launched her attack on BJP yet again and equated them with the “tukde-tukde” analogy while alleging that the saffron party is trying to break India into pieces through violence and communal tension. Mamata Banerjee has also confirmed that she and her government will not support Uniform Civil Code, calling it a forceful interference into the freedom and religious liberty of people. On the Quit India movement anniversary, Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday gave the call for “BJP quit India”, claiming that PM Modi has lost the right to be in power.

“We had forced the British to leave the country. Now, we are asking the BJP government at the Centre to leave its seat of power in Delhi. BJP, you quit India! You don’t have the right to be in power. They are asking us to ‘quit India’. We will not. I am born here and belong to this country. It is a movement. They have forgotten Mahatma) Gandhi. The British were made to leave India by our freedom fighters. We wanted freedom from the oppression of BJP”, said Mamata Banerjee

Referring to recent incidents of spate of violence in Manipur and Haryana, the Chief Minister without naming PM Modi, took a jibe and said “dalits are being oppressed everywhere, including Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh” and further added “people are being killed in encounters, Manipur is burning for the past four months. Yet, the Centre remains silent. They think that by inciting communal riots, they can break the country into ‘tukde-tukde’ (parts) and divide it”.

She while speaking on the occasion of World Indigenous Day in Jhargram, reminded people of the “failed” promises of BJP including the promise to give Rs 15 lakh in every bank account after election in 2014. She asked people not to trust the promises made by BJP ahead of election. “He (PM Modi) will claim to give free ration once again ahead of election. But why has it been stopped now?”, asked Banerjee.

Speaking on the ongoing turmoil in Manipur, she urged people to maintain peace and stand in solidarity with the strife torn state. She called it the failure of BJP led Central government that people of Manipur had been suffering for over 3 months
