11 houses built on government land was demolised by the authorities on receiving a tip-off about illegal beef trading and cow slaughter activities in Mandla, Madhya Pradesh.

According to Mandla's Superintendent of Police Rajat Saklecha, a team was rushed on the spot and a total of 150 cows were found in the backyards of the accused. Upon searching the homes of the suspects, police found cow meat in refrigerators, along with animal fat, cattle skin, and bones stored in a room. "The local government veterinarian has confirmed the seized meat is beef. We have also sent samples to Hyderabad for secondary DNA analysis,"said the SP.

As per reports, the 11 accused individuals had illegally built their houses on government land, and the authorities proceeded to demolish the structures. "The houses of the 11 accused were demolished as they were on government land," SP Saklecha added. An FIR was filed promptly after the recovery operation, leading to the arrest of one suspect, with efforts ongoing to locate the remaining 10.

"The 150 cows have been sent to a cattle shelter," SP Saklecha stated, highlighting that Bhainwahi had become a hotspot for cow smuggling. Under Madhya Pradesh law, cow slaughter carries a severe penalty of up to seven years in prison.

Meanwhile, tensions flared in Jaora town, Ratlam district, after the discovery of bovine body parts near a local temple. According to eyewitnesses, Hindu groups protested the incident vigorously, prompting police intervention. Eyewitnesses reported that police lobbed teargas shells and conducted lathi charges to disperse protesters at Jaagnath Mahadev temple in the early hours of Friday morning.
