The Trinamool Congress has emerged victorious in West Bengal's Lok Sabha elections of 2024, despite earlier exit poll projections indicating a closer race. Led by Mamata Banerjee, the TMC secured a resounding victory with 29 out of the 42 seats, significantly outpacing the Bharatiya Janata Party, which secured 12 seats and the Congress managed to secure just one seat. However, in spite of fielding candidates in 30 out of 42 seats of Bengal, the CPIM failed to bag any seats.

According to the exit poll conducted by Axis My India, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) party in Bengal was forecasted to face a setback. The survey suggested that the BJP could potentially win between 26 to 31 seats, while the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress might secure 11 to 14 seats. However, contrary to the exit polls, the TMC secured a landslide victory in the state.

The electoral battleground in West Bengal witnessed a fierce three-way contest between the ruling TMC, the BJP, and the Congress-Left combine. The Trinamool Congress opted not to align with the INDIA alliance and contested all 42 seats independently. Similarly, the BJP also chose to contest all seats. Meanwhile, the Left contested on 30 seats, while the Congress fielded candidates on 12 seats as part of their pre-election agreement.

The voting process for the West Bengal Lok Sabha elections unfolded over seven phases. Beginning on April 19, polling took place in various constituencies across the state. Each subsequent phase covered different regions, with the final phase concluding on June 1, encompassing key constituencies in and around Kolkata.

In the 2019 general elections, the political landscape in West Bengal saw the TMC secure victory on 22 seats out of 42, while the BJP made significant inroads by securing 18 seats. The Congress, contesting on 40 seats, managed to win only two seats.
