Twenty-one days after the brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old PGT doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College, chilling audio clips have emerged, revealing the purported happenings of the morning of August 9 when the news of the tragedy was broken to the victim's family. The reported clips debunk conspiracy theories, showing it was the hospital's assistant superintendent, not the police, who told the parents the on-duty doctor had committed suicide.

In what is believed to the be the be the first audio clip of the series that has gone into circulation now, the assistant super of the hospital can be heard informing the parents of the deceased doctor that their daughter is severely unwell and that the authorities were compelled to admit her to the hospital for further treatment. In the frantic telephonic conversation, the assistant super, time and again urged the parents to come down to the hospital.

First Audio Clip- The one where the Assistant Super informs the parents of the victim that their daughter is unwell:
Assistant Super: Hello...
Father: Who is this?
Assistant Super: I am calling from RG Kar Hospital
Father: Yes, what has happened?
Assistant Super: Your daughter is unwell, will you be able to come immediately?
Father: Why, what has happened?
Assistant Super: She is unwell, we have admitted her, can you please come immediately.
Father: Please tell us what has happened
Assistant Super: The doctors will be able to say that once you come. We arranged for your number and as family members informed you, please come soon.
Father: Please tell me what has happened...
Assistant Super: The patient is unwell, we have admitted her. The doctors will tell you the rest once you arrive.
Mother: Does she have a fever?
Assistant Super: Please come soon, as soon as you can
Father: Why, is she in a critical condition?
Assistant Super: Yes, she is in a very critical condition, please come soon

In the second audio clip, the assistant super can be heard urging the family of the victim to come down to the hospital at the earliest. While the family kept on enquiring about the health of their daughter, the assistant super told the father that the victim’s “condition is very critical”, asking them to make their way to RG Kar MCH “as soon as possible.”

Second Audio Clip- The one where the assistant super informs the family of the victim that the condition of the victim was extremely severe and that the parents must reach the hospital “immediately”:
Assistant Super: Her condition is critical. Her condition is very critical. Come down as soon as possible.
Father: What has happened, say that please.
Assistant Super: That the doctor can say. You come down as soon as possible.
Father: Who are you?
Assistant Super: I am the Assistant Super. I am not the doctor
Father: Isn’t there any doctor around?
Assistant Super: We have brought your daughter to the emergency. You all come down and connect with us.
Mother comes in at this point
Mother: What has happened to her, she was on duty?
Assistant Super: You all come down as soon as possible

The third audio clip of the series primarily features the assistant super who for the very first time told the family of the PGT doctor that their daughter may have committed suicide and could have died. When the family tried asking questions, they were asked to come to the hospital and the rest would be told to them by the doctors and the police who were already present on spot.

Third Audio Clip- The one where the news of the death was broken to the family for the very first time:
Assistant Super: I was telling you back then, the thing is, your daughter (victim's name) has probably committed suicide or she has died. The police are here. All of us from the hospital are here and we called you. Please come as soon as you can.

The fourth viral audio clip reveals a conversation between the police and the victim's family, where the IC of RG Kar MCH asks them to reach the spot urgently. The victim's mother inquires about her daughter's physical condition, raising questions about the chronology of events. If the family already knew about her death, why ask about her condition. This clip debunks the theory that police told the family their daughter committed suicide, as no such mention is made by the IC.

Fourth Audio Clip – The one where the IC of RG Kar MCH was heard talking to the family of the deceased doctor.
Police: Hello
Mother: Yes, tell me
Police: Are you coming?
Mother: Yes we are
Police: Okay
Mother: How is her health?
Police: We will talk once you reach. Come to R G Kar Hospital, to the HOD of the Chest Department
Mother: Okay

The police arrested Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer of the welfare department of the Kolkata Police, whose Bluetooth earphones were found near the victim's body and was seen on CCTV footage near the crime scene. During interrogation, Roy confessed to the crime, revealing a disturbing timeline of events on the night of August 8. After a night of alcohol consumption and visiting red-light areas, Roy returned to the hospital, where he allegedly strangled and sexually assaulted the doctor before fleeing. The case has since been transferred to the CBI following a Calcutta High Court order, ensuring a thorough investigation into the heinous crime.

A wave of outrage swept across Kolkata, Bengal, and the nation as protests erupted over the heinous rape and murder of an on-duty PGT doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Demonstrations, candlelight vigils, and rallies were held in various parts of the city and state, with citizens, students, and professionals demanding justice for the victim and her family. The protests condemned the brutal crime and called for swift action against the perpetrators, seeking safer working conditions for women and stricter laws to combat violence against them.
