"It has become a habit for you to seize on few words taken out of context...": Kharge Writes to PM Modi for Discussion on Congress's "Nyay Patra"

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, extending an invitation for a discussion to elucidate the objectives outlined in the party's manifesto titled 'Nyay Patra'. Kharge stated that the aim of the Congress manifesto is to deliver justice to various segments of society, including youth, women, farmers, laborers, and marginalized communities. 

Kharge said that it is important to clarify the objectives listed in the Grand Old Party's manifesto to prevent the propagation of false information, stating, "You are being misinformed by your advisors about things that are not even written in our manifesto. I would be more than happy to meet you in person to explain our 'Nyay Patra' so that, as prime minister of the country, you don't make any statements that are false."

Drawing inferneces to the Prime Minister's recent speeches, Kharge said that he was "neither shock nor surprise at the language used". He attributed the tone to expected reactions following the BJP's underwhelming performance in the initial phase of elections.

Accusing the BJP of lacking concern for the impoverished, Kharge criticized Modi's governance as favoring corporates at the expense of the common man. He emphasized the inclusive nature of the Congress manifesto, asserting, "Our manifesto is for the people of India -- whether they are Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Jain, or Buddhist."

The Congress president condemned Modi's focus on communal rhetoric, accusing him of manipulating isolated statements to sow division. Kharge criticized the Prime Minister's derogatory language, stating, "You are lowering the dignity of the chair by speaking in this manner." He reiterated the offer for a detailed explanation of the party's manifesto to rectify any misconceptions held by the Prime Minister.

Responding to Modi's recent allegations regarding the Congress manifesto's purported plans for wealth redistribution, Kharge characterized them as diversionary tactics. He underscored the manifesto's focus on social justice and equitable opportunities for all segments of society. The Congress President said that their election manifesto highlights the party's commitment to address pressing issues such as gender-based violence and farmer suicides.
