Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan said on Monday that the probe into the Kalamassery serial blast is ‘progressing efficiently.’ He visited the Zamra International Convention and Exhibition Centre, the accident site to take note of the situation on the ground, and met with the deceased. The CM urged the people to face the situation with ‘restraint and unity’ and to stay away from ‘unnecessary controversies.’

Taking to social media platform ‘X’, the Kerala CM said, “Visited the Zamra International Convention & Exhibition Centre at Kalamassery today to assess the situation after yesterday's blast. Met with the grieving relatives of Kumari and Leona Paulus. Also, checked in on those receiving treatment at the medical college, ensuring they get necessary care. The investigation is progressing efficiently. Let's face this with restraint and unity, and steer clear of unnecessary controversies.”

On Sunday, the serial bombings occurred at a convention center in Kalamassery, near Kochi, which was hosting a prayer meeting of the Jehovah's Witnesses. Following this, 1 woman was killed and over 60 people injured, six of them sustained grave injuries from the blasts. A 53-year-old lady later succumbed to her burn injuries. The death toll had risen to three by Monday morning, with the death of a 12-year-old girl who had sustained 95% burns in the blasts. An investigation probing into the bombings is currently underway.

Hours after the blasts, a man named Dominic Martin surrendered to authorities claiming responsibility for the incident. In a live social media video, he stated that he "reacted" to the teachings of the religious sect because they were "anti-national and seditious." Martin stated that the Jehovah's Witnesses' doctrines "angered" him six years ago and that there was "something wrong" with the organization. He claimed to have instructed them to quit "promoting" hatred and sedition. The police are questioning Martin in regard to his alleged involvement in the incident.
