“INDIA didn’t stake claim today but that doesn’t mean we won’t tomorrow…” Mamata Banerjee warns anything can happen soon to an “illegal and unstable” Modi Govt

“Narendra Modi should have allowed someone else to become the Prime Minister”, hours before the swearing-in ceremony, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has lashed out and mocked the BJP for failing to cut the majority mark after their election campaign of ‘Abki bar 400 par”. She claimed no one likes Modi and that the government is illegal as it lacked the popular mandate of the people. But her warning lay in her claim that INDIA alliance could claim to form the government soon.

“INDIA alliance hasn’t claimed to form the government today, but that doesn’t mean we won’t in the future. This government they are forming is illegal. But we let them handle their miseries, we will wait and watch. I will be happy to see this unstable government go at the earliest”, Mamata Banerjee Said after her parliamentary party meeting on Saturday at her Kalighat residence.

Mamata Banerjee dropped a further hint as she claimed “sometimes a government can last even for a day”, hinting that the NDA alliance with TDP Chandrababu Naidu and JD(U) Nitish Kumar in their folds, might not be a stable government. The INDIA alliance members have so far maintained that both TSP and JD(U) have shared good terms with opposition members. BJP bagged 240 Lok Sabha seats falling short of the majority mark by 32. Both JD(U) and TDP have assured their support but the berth distributions are yet to conclude.

“People in the NDA want the position but, members of INDIA alliance aren’t greedy and we care for the country. Let the BJP handle their demands. You never know what happens in the next 15 days. I am not an astrologer and I am not certain that something will happen in 15 days but anything happen now. All we know is we will be responsible inside the parliament and will hold the government accountable. We want NRC to go, UCC to be revoked and also citizenship approval responsibilities are given back to district magistrates”, Mamata Banerjee added.

PM-designate Narendra Modi is scheduled to take oath for the third consecutive time on Sunday, at 7.15 pm. Mamata Banerjee has refused to attend the swearing-in. “My good wishes are with the country, not for an illegal government”, she concluded.​
