The debate over the 'No Confidence' motion moved by Opposition Bloc INDIA has been taken up by the Lok Sabha, spanning over August 8 and 9. Nishikanta Dubey initiated the Bharatiya Janta Party’s stance against the no confidence motion on Tuesday. He started his speech by taking a swipe at the former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi.

"This no-confidence motion has been brought. Why has this been brought? Sonia Gandhi is sitting here, I think she has to do two things to do- Bete ko set karna hai aur damad ko bhent karna hai. That is the base of this motion”, he said. Dubey also stated that Rahul Gandhi, who was supposed to initiate the motion on Tuesday, did not do so as "probably he got up late".

Nishikanta Dubey said that the alliance formed by the Opposition is a sham, and stated that Congress has formed an alliance with people who had betrayed them in the past. He further added that parties fighting against each other in an alliance called INDIA, but, can never lookout for the people of India. “If one asks the full form of the acronym INDIA to opposition leaders, very few will be able to elaborate” he added.

The leader representing BJP bore Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message to the Parliament. According to the PM, this is not a motion against the government, but it has been put forth by the Opposition to test the confidence of their own alliance, he said.

Lauding the achievements of the Prime Minister of India, Dubey alleged that the Opposition has tabled a no confidence motion against a ‘poor man’s son’, who works for the welfare of the people of India. "This no-confidence motion is against the son of a poor, the no-confidence motion is against the person who gave people houses, the no-confidence motion is against the person who gave drinking water to the people, the no-confidence motion is against the person who gave toilets to the people, the no-confidence motion is against the person who tried to bring light in everyone's home”, said Nishikanta Dubey. "Modi ji will return with 400 seats in 2024", he added.

TMC MP Saugata Roy on the other hand, started his speech in the Lok Sabha by saying, “I hold no personal grudges against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I do not wish to comment on his academic qualification either. Neither do I wish to I wish to talk on the BBC documentary, nor am I going to talk about the tensions that escalated in Gujarat. I am here to talk about the widespread unrest in Manipur. The Union government is heartless. Over a 100 women have died, and the Prime Minister has still not set foot in the state.”

He vehemently condemned the Prime Minister’s continuing silence on the unrest in Manipur and said that the PM can be seen in the jungles of Rajasthan, he can also be seen attending state dinners with US President Joe Biden, but he is missing when the people of Manipur need him.

Taking a jibe at BJP Leader Nishikanta Roy, he said, “Nishikanta Dubey probably is eager to get into ministries, hence, passes such statements so easily. The political organization that he is a part of, what role did they play in August’42? That party was banned after the death of Gandhiji. We know their track record, hence; pay no heed to his comments.”
The motion that was taken up for debate in the Lok Sabha will also be deliberated upon on Wednesday.
