“I assure all possible support…”: PM Narendra Modi congratulates the new Telangana CM, Revanth Reddy

Anumula Revanth Reddy swore in as Telangana’s first Congress Chief Minister on Thursday at Hyderabad’s LB Stadium. The new Telangana CM was congratulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who assured ‘all possible support to further the progress of the state.’


Taking to social media platform ‘X’ PM Modi said, “Congratulations to Shri Revanth Reddy Garu on taking oath as the Chief Minister of Telangana. I assure all possible support to further the progress of the state and the welfare of its citizens. @revanth_anumula.”


Revanth Reddy along with 11 ministers, that include Uttam Kumar Reddy, Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Damodar Rajanarasimha, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Dana Anasuya, Tummala Nageswar Rao, Konda Surekha, and Jupally Krishna Rao, took the oath of office in the presence of Telangana Governor Tamilisai. Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, and was sworn in alongside the Chief Minister-elect and the other ministers.


Revanth Reddy swore in as the first Congress Chief Minister of Telangana, a state established in 2014 after the bifurcation of Andra Pradesh. Popularly known as “Tiger Revanth”, the 54-year-old played a pivotal role in steering the Congress to a resounding victory, securing 64 out of 119 seats and establishing a commanding majority to form the state government.


Reddy contested in the assembly elections from the two constituencies of Kamareddy and Kodangal. In his direct electoral face-off with KCR in the Kamareddy seat resulted in a setback, as BJP's Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy emerged victorious. However, Reddy secured success in the Kodangal seat.


The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Congress leaders such as Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi. In addition to the Gandhis, several notable figures from the Congress party, such as Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, General Secretary KC Venugopal, and Telangana in-charge Manikrao Thakare, participated in the ceremony.
