For the first time in the upcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan, senior citizens above 80 years of age and people with more than 40 percent disability will be able to vote from their homes, confirmed an official on Thursday.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer, Praveen Gupta, 18.05 lakh eligible voters can avail this facility during the elections and he stated that this has been done to formulate a more Inclusive electoral process. Booth Level officers have been campaigning door to door, elucidating the process of 'home vote' to the eligible voters.

In Rajasthan, where the assembly elections will be held later this year, there are approximately 12,13,817 voters over the age of 80 and 5.95 lakh voters who are specially abled. The Chief Electoral Officer said that this facility is optional and eligible voters who wish to avail this service, would have to fill in the 12D form issued by BLO within 5 days after issue of election notification.

As per the guidelines, the returning officer will make the list of voters who have chosen the option of "home voting" available to all recognized political parties, and the polling team created will get these voters to vote through postal ballot.
