Himachal Pradesh: State begs Centre to release the due disaster relief fund for floods.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday urged the center to provide the Himachal Pradesh’s pending disaster relief fund of rupees 315 crore at the earliest. As the hill state is witnessing devastation caused by incessant rains and flash floods this monsoon.

He even said that the amount has been on hold for the past few years with rupees121.71  crore allocated for 2020-21 and rupees 133.56 crore for 2021-22 under the National Disaster Response Fund(NDRF) and rupees 61.07 crore for 2019-20 under the State Disaster Response Fund(SDRF).

Since the country has witnessed the disastrous natural disaster in the hill state, Himachal Pradesh on June 24, as many as 138 people have died in rain-related incidents, such as landslides, road accidents and flashfloods, according to the Himachal Pradesh State Emergency Response Centre

The disaster caused innumerous damages to the state and private infrastructure in Kullu, Spiti , Mandi etc. and the highways became the epicenter of landslides. The Highway near Mandi, Washed away by Beas river. These are the  major communication route and tourist attraction.
