Serious allegations have been levelled against the Delhi police by five of the six accused arrested in connection with last December’s Parliament Security breach. In an application filed before the Additional Sessions Judge Hardeep Kaur of Patiala House Court in New Delhi on Wednesday, they have alleged torture, coercion and even forced to sign on various black papers. The five accused- Sagar Sharma, Manoranjan D, Lalit Jha, Mahesh Kumawat and Amol Shinde have alleged that they were given electric shocks to confess their association with opposition parties and to name opposition leaders. The court has sought a response from Delhi Police by February 17.

Allegations

1: The application states, at least two accused during their polygraph or brain mapping test were pressurised to name political parties and leaders.

2: The accused have alleged that five of them each were forced to sign on 70 blank papers.

3: The application claims the five accused were subjected to electric shocks to extract confessions under UAPA and their links with political leaders.

4: The accused were forced to share their old phone numbers, were taken to telecom offices for “issuance of SIM cards of their old numbers for the reasons best known to the prosecution”, the application stated.

5: The five accused were forced to share their passwords for email accounts, social media and mobile phones

In a major security breach on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack, two people- Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D had jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the gallery while the house was on. Two other accused had sprayer coloured gas inside the house from canisters and had raised slogans. The sixth accused Neelam Azad hadn’t moved a similar application. All the accused are in Judicial custody. Visitors passes were recovered from two accused, allegedly issued on the basis of application made from the office of BJP MP from Mysuru Pratap Simha.
