The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday launched search operations at multiple locations across Kolkata, including the residence and office of West Bengal Fire Services Minister Sujit Bose, in connection with an alleged civic body recruitment scam.
According to officials, the searches began early in the morning and covered six locations, among them Bose’s residence-cum-office in Salt Lake and the homes of former Dum Dum Municipality officials, including Vice Chairman Nitai Datta.
The operation is part of an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in civic recruitment, where around 240 to 250 individuals were reportedly appointed through unfair means.
An ED official told PTI, “Today’s raids are aimed at collecting documents linked to corruption. The office of the minister was not originally on our list.”
This marks the second time the central agency has raided the Trinamool Congress leader’s property. In January 2024, Sujit Bose was questioned for over 12 hours after similar searches in connection with the same case.
