Another dead in Haryana violence, death toll rises to 6. The 6th victim, Pradeep Sharma, coordinator of the Bajrang Dal, Badshahpur branch, succumbed to his injuries at the Safdarjang Hospital, Delhi. Internet services have been suspended, schools and colleges shut down till August 2, in Nuh and its adjoining areas. 30 companies of Haryana Police and 20 CAPF companies have been deployed to curb the violence and maintain law and order in the state.

Gurugram witnessed a spate of violence on August 1, a mob attacked and set a mosque on fire. Two were shot, including the naib imam. This happened hours after the violence that had erupted in NUH, Haryana, after Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s rally was stopped by a group of young men.

The ripples of the violent clashes of Nuh could be felt in its adjoining areas, as a result, Delhi police have tightened their grip over volatile areas. Moreover, security and surveillance has been increased at religious spots, to prevent fresh fallouts. “Keeping in view the violence in some districts of Haryana adjoining Delhi, elaborate security arrangements have been made at all sensitive places in Delhi and additional police forces have also been deployed where necessary. Any attempt to harm Delhi’s security and communal harmony will be dealt with strictly”, said Suman Nalwa, Deputy Commissioner of Police.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal staged protests at various locations in Delhi on Wednesday, in light of the clashes in Nuh, Haryana. The protestors were seen reciting the Hanuman Chalisa. Protests were called at a total of 23 locations across the National capital.

Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan called the situation in Haryana ‘distressing’ and he tweeted,“Deeply saddened by the distressing communal conflict unravelling in Haryana. The loss of lives and widespread arson are undeniably tragic. Let’s unite in upholding communal harmony and swiftly end the violence. Our heartfelt thoughts are with the affected families.”

Taking to Twitter, Rajya Sabha MP, Kapil Sibal took a jibe at Union Government over the prevalent unrest in the country and the government’s mismanagement of the same. He Tweeted, Politics of Hate! 4 killed on Jaipur-Mumbai Central Superfast Express by RPF Jawan. Victims identified by religion Shops , Mosque torched ; Naib Imam killed, apart from 4 others in Nuh. Police allegedly collaborated in violence against women in Manipur. Acchhe Din ?”

In the meantime, a Special Bench of the Supreme Court asked the Haryana government to control the law and order situation in the state, and contain all activities of religious fervor. “There cannot be violence, hate speech, destruction of property or life, let additional police force be deployed or para military force where there can be violence install CCTV and let recordings be preserved”, observed the Bench on Wednesday. The case is up for hearing, again on Friday.
