Chevella MP Ranjith Reddy Resigns from BRS, Joins Congress Amidst "Evolving Political Circumstances"

Chevella MP Ranjith Reddy dealt another blow to the Bharat Rashtra Samiti by resigning from the party and joining Congress on Sunday. Reddy's decision to switch parties comes amid what he described as "evolving political circumstances." Shortly after tendering his resignation, Reddy officially joined the Congress in the presence of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

Taking to the social media platform "X", Ranjith Reddy conveyed his gratitude to BRS and thanked the party for all the opportunities that were sent his way. "I’m writing to inform all my supporters and people that I have submitted the formal letter of resignation to @BRSparty. I would like to convey my gratitude to the BRS party for the meaningful opportunity provided & the cooperation extended in my service to the people of Chevella constituency. Due to evolving political circumstances, I have made this difficult decision to submit my resignation," wrote Reddy in his post.

The resignation of Ranjith Reddy adds to a string of defections from the BRS following the party's defeat in the Telangana Assembly elections. Former ministers and MLAs have been among those who have left the BRS to join the ruling Congress.

With Ranjith Reddy's resignation, the tally of sitting BRS MPs exiting the party in just over a month rises to five out of nine. Notably, BRS MPs B. Venkatesh Netha (Peddapalli), P. Ramulu (Nagarkurnool), B.B. Patil (Zaheerabad), and P. Dayakar (Warangal) have all resigned from KCR's party. Venkatesh and Dayakar have joined the ruling Congress, while Ramulu and Patil have opted to join the BJP.​
