BSP suspends Lok Sabha MP Danish Ali for engaging in “Anti-Party Activities”

Lok Sabha MP, Danish Ali, who bore the brunt of BJP MP Ramesh Biduri’s communal slurs on the parliamentary floor in September, has been suspended by the Bahujan Samaj Party on Saturday. "Anti-party activity" has been cited as the reason for his suspension by the party.

“It was made clear to you earlier itself to not indulge in anti-party activities… It is also mandatory to make it clear to you… you were working in the Janata Party under Deve Gowda in Karnataka in 2018… at that time the BSP and Deve Gowda's Janata Party were contesting the polls together and you were given a ticket from Amroha under the conditions that you would work for the party. However, it seems you have forgotten the promises made by you that time. Therefore, you are being suspended from the party,” reads the official statement released by the Bahujan Samaj Party.

In September, BJP MP Ramesh Biduri hurled communal slurs at Danish Ali in the House of Parliament during an ongoing session on the Chandrayaan-3 mission. Danish Ali was called an “Atankwadi" (terrorist), "Ugrawadi" (extremist) in the Lok Sabha and the Ethics Committee launched a probe into the case. Amidst the massive political uproar that ensued, Danish Ali met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. "Nafrat ke Bazaar mein Mohabbat ki Dukan (Shop of love in the market of hate),” said Rahul Gandhi after his interaction with Ali.

Danish Ali was seen standing in support of TMC MP Mahua Moita who was expelled from the Parliament over the ‘cash-for-query’ allegations flagged against her by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey. Moitra was denied the right to defend her case inside the Parliament and was removed after the majority of the house voted in favour of her removal. "Decorum in Parliament died in September... it was bombed when Ramesh Bidhuri made those comments. And now they are saying this? Today, (Mahatma) Gandhi and Ambedkar are crying," said Danish Ali following the TMNC MP’s expulsion.
