BJP Leader from J&K Appeals to Amit Shah for Dismissal of Senior Police Officers, Alleges Unfair Scrutiny of Party Leaders for Corruption

Muhammad Maqbool War, a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Kashmir, has called for the removal of two district police chiefs, accusing them of wrongfully targeting BJP officials with corruption charges and not cooperating with the party, reports The Wire.

The letter, penned by War and addressed to Union Minister Amit Shah, claims that the top police officers of Baramulla and Sopore are unjustly singling out BJP leaders for investigation. War, who stood as the BJP's Lok Sabha candidate from Baramulla in 2019 and serves on the BJP’s state and national executive committees, alleges these officers are ignoring corruption by leaders of the National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party, and other prominent figures.

He's called for their replacement with cooperative officers and proposed two potential replacements.

This request follows the arrest of BJP-affiliated Ashiq Ganie, aka Ashiq MLA and Mudasir Ahmad Wani on extortion charges earlier this month.

The BJP, however, has disassociated itself from War's letter, claiming the expressed views are solely his.
