In the shocking incident in Maharashtra’s Swami Chincholi Village of Daund Taluka, a family enroute to Pandharpur were attacked and the teenager assaulted a biker duo. According to police, The Warkaris had stopped for tea on their journey when two men arrived on bike. As the Warkaris were getting back into their vehicle, the men threatened them with a sickle.
After looting the Warkaris, the two accused allegedly took a minor girl a short distance away and sexually assaulted her. This incident has created panic and outrage in the Daund region. A case is being registered at the Daund Police Station. Police are searching for the unidentified culprits, and apprehending them remains a major challenge.
Ashadhi Wari 2025 is regarded as a major cultural and spiritual festival across Maharashtra. During this period, the entire state is immersed in a devotional atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and spiritual energy. As part of the tradition, the palanquins of revered saints have begun their journey toward Pandharpur. Lakhs of Warkaris are marching, chanting “Mauli-Mauli,” to seek the divine darshan of Lord Vitthal in Pandharpur.
Meanwhile, just a few days ago, a case of fraud surfaced during the Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi procession. Some devotees were reportedly approached in the Saswad area and offered fake token darshan passes for Rs 100 each. These duplicate passes were made using old pass templates.
When the devotees reached the Vitthal temple for darshan, the scanning process at the entry gate revealed that the passes were fake. The temple administration immediately acted, detaining seven devotees for questioning. However, they were unable to provide information on who issued the fake passes. This incident created considerable unrest in Pandharpur.
