At least 3,000 feared dead, and over 10,000 missing in the flood that has hit Libya

Storm Daniel hit the Mediterranean and caused severe flooding in Libya. The floods destroyed dams and entire neighborhoods in the country's coastal regions.  As per the data released by authorities, at least 3, 000 are feared to be dead, and over 10,000 are missing. The city of Derna was most severely impacted by the floods, it is now impassable due to the floods.  Numerous residential neighborhoods have been destroyed along the river that runs through the heart of the city and originates from the mountains.

Videos circulating on the internet show that even multistory apartment buildings that were originally located far from the river have collapsed and dwindled down to dust. Prime Minister Ossama Hamad of the Libyan government, around 3,000 people are believed to have died and many more are missing in Derna, which is now a declared disaster area.  

Local media reports that Derna is currently facing a dreadful situation as there is no power or communication. However, foreign nations like the UAE and Egypt have sent words of encouragement. The UAE's ambassador, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, announced that Abu Dhabi would dispatch teams for search and rescue as well as humanitarian relief to eastern Libya. Additionally, Iraq, Algeria, and Turkey have all expressed their sympathy and pledged support.
