AAP Leader Kailash Gahlot Summoned by Enforcement Directorate in Delhi Liquor Policy Case

AAP leader Kailash Gahlot has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate for questioning regarding an alleged money laundering case in connection with the Delhi liquor policy. The AAP leader was summoned days after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the central agency on March 21, in connection with the same case. Gahlot has already presented himself at the probe agency's office.

The 49-year-old Kailash Gahlot, an AAP MLA from Najafgarh in Delhi, has been asked to appear for questioning and have his statement recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). He also currently holds the portfolios for home, transport, and law in the Delhi government. BJP leader Virendra Sachdeva reacted to the summons and stated that "another Delhi government Minister has been summoned now. The truth will come forth to the public." AAP leader Dilip Kumar Pandey accused the BJP government of "dictatorship," rallying support against what they perceive as unjust actions.

Previously, AAP leaders Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and Arvind Kejriwal were arrested in connection with the case. The arrest of Deli Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on March 21 came after repeated summonses issued by the Enforcement Directorate were skipped by the AAP Chief. Arvind Kejriwal remains in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate until April 1.

Kailash Gahlot's summons by the Enforcement Directorate is part of an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption and money laundering related to the formulation and execution of Delhi's excise policy for 2021-22. Gahlot's involvement in the case includes accusations of handling a single SIM number with multiple changes to its IMEI.
