10 days of police custody has been granted to Dominic Martin, the sole accused in the Kerala serial bomb blasts on Monday by Principal Session Court Judge Honey M Varghese in Kerala. The Kerala serial blasts claimed 4 lives and gravely injured over 50. The explosions hit a prayer meeting of the Jehovah's Witnesses at a convention center in Kalamassery near here on October 29.

In a report presented to the court, the police stated that they require additional time to probe into various facets of the case. Martin’s sources of finances, his overseas connections, and a tail of other avenues that are pertinent to the case need to be thoroughly investigated. The police have also stated that the accused needs to be taken down to the accident spot for the purpose of recreation drills, in order to gather more evidence in relation to the case.

Hours after the explosions on October 29, Dominic Martin surrendered on the very same day. The police had then detained him for further questioning. Martin had recorded a video of himself, explaining the reason behind him carrying out the blasts and posted it on social media before turning himself in to the police.

Martin Dominic had been remanded to court prison on October 31, and he has denied the assistance of a legal aid lawyer, time and again. Several sections of the IPC have been invoked against Dominic. Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) (punishment for murder) and Section 3 of the Explosive Substances Act have been invoked, in addition, he has been charged with relevant parts of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

The death toll in connection to the Kalamassery serial blasts rose to 4 on Monday morning, after a 62-year-old lady succumbed to her burn injuries.
