“BJP planning to expel Mahua from the Lok Sabha”, Mamata Banerjee breaks her silence on the ‘cash-for-query’ scam

Breaking her silence on the alleged ‘cash-for-query’ scam leveled against TMC MP, Mahua Moitra, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said that Moitra’s planned expulsion from the parliament would only make her more popular before the upcoming elections.

Sharpening her attack on the BJP, the Trinamool Congress Supremo Mamata Banerjee said, “Now they are behind Mahua. It is their plan to get rid of her, but that will make her more popular, only three months are left before the next election. What sense does it make it expel her only three months before the elections?” Stating that Mahua Moitra cannot be silenced, in turn, Trinamool Congress cannot be silenced, Banerjee said, “Instead of speaking inside the house of the Parliament, Mahua will now raise the questions outside before the masses. What difference does it even make for three months?”

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey had flagged the alleged ‘cash-for query’ scam against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra. Dubey had written to the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla accusing Moitra of accepting bribes from Dubai-based businessman Darshan Hiranandani for raising questions against the Adani group inside the House of Parliament. He further alleged that Moitra shared her parliamentary logging credentials with Hiranandani, for posing the questions on her behalf. The Lok Sabha Ethics Committee had probed into these allegations and suggested the expulsion of Mahua Moitra from the Parliament. In retaliation to the charges leveled against her, Moitra had admitted to sharing her credentials with Hiranandani claiming that there are no rules pertaining to the sharing of login ID and password.

Drawing inferences from Mahua’s statement and launching a fresh attack, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey shared a Lok Sabha order dated November 10, which states that confidentiality must be maintained by the MPs till the questions posed are actually answered in the house. “This is the order of the Lok Sabha, which clearly says that confidentiality means that the information should be limited to the MP only. Because when the MP asks a question, the MP gets the answer one hour before the commencement of the Parliament, this affects the condition of the stock market and the company. Ups and downs, breach in the security of the country, playing with economic and security due to getting premature information about our relations with other countries. Perhaps a PA like Hiranandani did not read this and tell the accused corrupt MP? example of theft and embezzlement,” posted the BJP MP on the social media platform ‘X’.
