Aam Aadmi Party Supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the BJP led Centre following the cancellation of the NEET UG 2026 examination, alleging “complete collusion” behind repeated paper leak controversies and accusing the government of failing to safeguard the future of lakhs of students.
Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal said recurring irregularities in national-level examinations reflected a deeper systemic crisis rather than isolated lapses. “Those who cannot prevent paper leaks, how will they run the government?” the former Delhi Chief Minister said. “It is a case of complete collusion,” he added, alleging that people at higher levels were being politically protected despite repeated controversies.
Kejriwal claimed that the NEET question paper had allegedly leaked multiple times over the past several years and questioned why strict action had not been taken against those responsible. “Paper leaks do not happen on their own. There is involvement of people at higher levels. Yet nobody is punished,” he said.
The AAP chief also accused the government of responding only when students protest publicly and urged aspirants affected by the cancellation to raise their voices against the system. “I want to tell students that they will have to come out on the streets. This government understands only the language of mass agitation, Kejriwal is with you,” asserted the AAP Supremo.
Expressing solidarity with candidates affected by the cancellation, the AAP leader highlighted the financial and emotional burden borne by families preparing for competitive examinations. “I sympathise with all the students affected by the cancellation of the NEET paper. I know how hard students work for such exams. Coaching is expensive and many families even pawn their jewellery to arrange money,” he said. Calling examination leaks the “biggest betrayal” of students, Kejriwal said repeated incidents had severely eroded public confidence in the country’s examination system.
The remarks came after the National Testing Agency cancelled the NEET UG 2026 examination conducted on May 3 following allegations of paper leaks and other irregularities. The NTA said the examination would be held again on fresh dates to be announced later. The Centre has also referred the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation for a comprehensive inquiry.
NEET UG 2026, conducted for undergraduate medical admissions, was held across more than 5,400 centres in India and abroad, with nearly 22.79 lakh candidates registered for the examination.
