The incident involved a SpiceJet Boeing 737-700, which sustained damage to its right winglet, while the Akasa Air aircraft suffered impact to its left horizontal stabiliser. Following the collision, the SpiceJet plane has been grounded for inspection.
Akasa Air confirmed that its aircraft, scheduled to operate flight QP 1406 from Delhi to Hyderabad, was stationary at the time of the incident.
“Initial information suggests that our aircraft was stationary when it was struck by another airline’s plane,” an Akasa Air spokesperson said.
The affected aircraft was subsequently moved back to the bay. All passengers and crew were safely disembarked, and the airline said alternative arrangements are being made to transport passengers to Hyderabad at the earliest.
Reiterating its commitment, Akasa Air said the safety and security of passengers and crew remain its highest priority.
