Following an unprecedented voter turnout in the opening phase of the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday intensified his campaign in the state, invoking Subhas Chandra Bose to call for what he described as a “new revolution” in Bengal.
Addressing a Vijay Sankalp Sabha in Bangaon, Modi said the state possesses the resources and capability to reclaim its position as a leading region in the country. Drawing on Netaji’s historic slogan, he reminded the audience of the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle and urged voters to play their part in bringing political change.
Referring to Bose’s famous call, the Prime Minister said that while people once gave everything for the nation, Bengal today needs “just one vote” from each citizen. He appealed to voters to support the BJP, stating that their mandate would help bring the change they seek and free the state from the rule of the All India Trinamool Congress.
“Bengal has everything. The people of Bengal have abundant capability, so Bengal can once again become the number one state in the country. We just need to remember Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s call. Netaji had said, ‘Give me blood, and I will give you freedom.’ In response to Netaji’s call, the countrymen sacrificed everything they had. Today, Bengal needs just one vote from you. Give us your blessings, give us your vote, and we will free you from TMC,” PM Modi said.
As part of his packed schedule, Modi is set to visit the Matua Thakur temple for prayers in the afternoon, followed by another rally in Arambagh. Later in the day, he will offer prayers at Thanthania Kalibari in Kolkata before taking part in a roadshow in the city.
The roadshow, expected to attract large crowds, will mark the culmination of a day of high-energy campaigning as the BJP steps up its outreach efforts ahead of the next phase of polling.
