The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), a digital movement that has gained significant attention across India over the past month, has announced the appointment of three spokespersons ahead of its planned protest in Delhi.
The movement, which has focused on issues such as unemployment and the alleged NEET examination paper leak controversy, has called for a major demonstration at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on June 6. The protest has begun attracting support from various quarters, including social activist Sonam Wangchuk and several other public figures.
In a post shared on X, CJP founder Abhijit Deepke announced the appointment of investigative journalist Saurav Das as the party's chief spokesperson. Vijeta Dahiya, a writer and producer, and Ashutosh Ranka, an alumnus of IIT Kanpur, have also been appointed as spokespersons.
Addressing the first press conference, Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) chief spokesperson and investigative journalist Saurav Das said, "Abhijeet Dipke will arrive in Delhi at 8 a.m. on June 6. He has appealed to his supporters to gather at the airport to receive him. Along with Sonam Wangchuk and other supporters, he will then proceed to Parliament Street Police Station to seek permission for a protest at Jantar Mantar. We invite people from all political parties and backgrounds to join this protest."
In its statement, CJP said it aims to transform India's political discourse and promote a new style of leadership led by younger voices.
Deepke and all CJP members will gather at Jantar Mantar to demand the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, holding him accountable for concerns surrounding examination-related controversies.
However, the party has also faced challenges on social media. Earlier, its X account was suspended, reportedly over national security concerns, after authorities raised questions about viral messages linked to the movement.
Despite the setback, the party rapidly gained followers online and claimed to have surpassed the follower counts of major political parties, including the BJP and Congress, on the platform.
