Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) MP Sanjay Raut has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party Group B made calls to multiple MPs, urging them not to pass the delimitation Bill.
Raut claimed that internal factionalism exists within the BJP and that a plan is being hatched to remove Prime Minister Narendra Modi from his post.
Raut said that the issue of delimitation is being pushed under the guise of women's reservation. “No concrete bill related to women's reservation has been effectively passed. A section within the BJP wants to remove Modi. It is not clear who all are part of this group, but there is also discussion around Devendra Fadnavis,” he said.
He further alleged that there is a plan to increase the number of MPs to 850 so that, after Modi exits power, control of the country remains with a particular group. “These are not just allegations, but facts."
Speaking on women’s reservation, Raut said, “No one is stopping the government from granting a reservation to women. Of the current 545 MPs, 180 seats can be reserved for women immediately. Even if it affects our seats, we are ready for it.”
Alleging the presence of two factions within the BJP, he added, “If Narendra Modi truly wanted, he could have got the bill passed through political consensus.”
Raut also accused Union Home Minister Amit Shah of being the architect behind the entire process. “This is not a women’s reservation bill, but a delimitation exercise. Women’s reservation is being used as a cover for a different political agenda,” he said.
He further claimed that several political leaders across the country were contacted to gather support for the bill. “I will not name anyone, but most political parties were approached,” he said.
Calling the issue a reflection of internal conflict within the BJP, Raut described it as an “internal rebellion”.
The BJP is likely to do nationwide protests against the opposition for the move.
